The licensed local team behind Plumbers In Hornsby
Who we are

The people behind
every Hornsby job

Plumbers In Hornsby is the local face of a licensed plumbing team that works the whole shire, town and rural fringe alike. Out here two things shape the work that do not apply elsewhere: the trees are protected, and half the shire has no mains gas.

A licensed plumber for Hornsby, not a call centre.

You reach a working plumber, not an operator writing a message for the next free van. No handing your job to whichever van costs least, no unexplained invoice, no promise that somebody turns up eventually.

Every job carries our NSW licence number, full insurance, and a fixed price you approve before anyone starts. When the truthful answer is that it waits until business hours and dodges the after-hours rate, you will be told that.

Licensed, insured & accountable.

Licensed & registered

NSW Plumbing Licence 368473C covers our work, done to the Australian Standards whether it is gas or water. Doing plumbing unlicensed breaks NSW law and voids home insurance. Always ask to see the number. Ours is on every quote.

Insured & to standard

We carry public liability and workmanship insurance, and hold membership of the Master Plumbers Association NSW. Repairs meet code and come with a written lifetime workmanship warranty.

Publicly reviewed

The Google reviews on this site belong to Dr Leak Plumbing, our sister plumbing brand. Same owners, same licensed crews, same vans. Sending you to genuine reviews under another name beats writing fake ones under this one.

Built by a plumber, run like it.

A licensed plumber founded it in 2020, bringing more than ten years of Sydney jobs with him. It grew from a single van into a team without the standard slipping: on time, priced before starting, cleaned up after.

In this shire that last part includes what is growing. Working around a protected tree rather than treating it as an obstacle is not an inconvenience, it is the job, and it is why we reach for a liner where someone else would reach for an excavator.

“If I wouldn't be happy with the fix in my own home, it's not finished. That's the whole job.”

The plumbing we see across Hornsby Shire.

Two things decide most of what we do here, and neither of them is about soil or weather. One is a council rule. The other is whether there is a gas main in your street at all.

1
This is the Bushland Shire, and it means it

Council strengthened tree protection so that all trees are protected apart from a short list of weeds and hazards. Anything over five metres tall, or five metres across the canopy, needs approval to prune or remove.

2
So you usually cannot remove the tree

An application runs roughly $150 to $250 and takes about three to four weeks, and it can be refused. The exemption for a trunk within three metres of a building foundation rarely covers the tree sitting over a sewer line out toward the street.

3
Which changes what a plumber can honestly recommend

Everywhere else the endgame for recurring roots is dealing with the tree. Here the repair has to be built around a tree that is staying, so cutting the roots then sealing the joint with a liner is the answer that actually holds.

4
The root zone counts too, not just the trunk

Trenching through a protected tree's roots is its own question, which is another reason we locate a fault precisely and open one small hole rather than running a trench and hoping.

5
Half the shire has no mains gas

The rail corridor suburbs have reticulated natural gas. Galston, Arcadia, Dural and Glenorie largely do not, and run 45kg LPG bottles for cooking, hot water and heating.

6
And the two gases are not interchangeable

They run at different pressures and appliance injectors are sized for one or the other. A natural gas cooktop will not run safely on LPG without the manufacturer's conversion kit, fitted and certified. People find this out after buying the appliance.

How we work.

1
A licensed plumber picks up, at any hour

Ring at 2am and you reach someone who can drive to you, not a service logging a message for the morning. On a genuine emergency the first thirty seconds at the meter matter most, and we walk you through that while the van is moving.

2
Mains or bottles, asked before anything else

It decides the pressure, the fittings, and whether a conversion is part of the job. Getting that answer at the booking rather than at the door is what stops a return visit.

3
One figure, agreed before we begin

You approve a number before a tool comes out, and that number is what you pay. No hourly meter, nothing added because it turned out to be a Sunday, and nothing on the invoice that was not discussed.

4
Repairs planned around what is protected

We would rather locate a fault precisely and open one small hole than trench through a root zone and create a second problem. That is not caution for its own sake, it is what the rules here actually require.

Who operates this site

"Plumbers In Hornsby" is a marketing name used to advertise licensed plumbing services supplied by Dr Energy Pty Ltd (ABN 40 679 445 884), trading as Dr Energy Electrical & Plumbing, NSW Plumbing Licence 368473C. All plumbing work booked through this site is carried out under that licence.

Those Google reviews belong to our sister plumbing brand, Dr Leak Plumbing. Both brands share owners and licensed crews, so the reviews are about the same people who will reach your door.
